Judgement Day....

My friend Lindsay and I were asked to be judges this year at the annual English competition held at the Medical school here in Martin. It is for Slovak students only who are learning either German or English as a foreign language and the prizes are enough to make it a well attended event. The competition consisted of 4 parts: a written exam in the appropriate language and then a power point presentation which was judged on 3 parts, Content, Language and presentation skills. Of course, being medical students, their presentations were about topics of most interest to them as first year students (and one fourth year student). I learned a good deal about malaria, menengitis, phobias, intestinal transplant, air copter rescue, and AAT/DAT (animal assisted therapy and dolphin assisted therapy).

I had never been on a panel of judges before so it was rather fun and interesting! In the end my number one pick was the 2nd place winner!
