Snippets of News

Well, we are fast approaching the end of semester one and I'm not sure who is more excited about that....me or the students! It has been challenging to say the least. I am not skilled in making up curriculum and developing lesson plans and unfortunately these first semester students have experienced my inexperience and in so doing have become my guinea pigs. The great thing is that I have plenty of time between semesters to come up with a plan to carry me through next semester! Please pray that I will be enlightened and inspired on what and how to teach!

In other news, many of the female staff here at the Bible School are going out day after day, sometimes 3 or 4 of them to different schools, to teach the Slovak children in the region about the Euro. They are presenting materials, explaining why they are changing over to the Euro, why it is good and I think showing what the money looks like and such. It is an important change for all of Slovakia to be officially in the European Union and I think most people see it as a good thing.....let's just pray it really is. January 1st is the big day for the switch over.

I don't know if many of you know this but the Elementary school right next door to the dorm is also overseen by the Bible School. I don't know many of the teachers there because I teach only at the dorm. I guess there were a few new teachers this year that the Bible staff hadn't met yet, so on Monday they put on a dinner for all the teachers of the Elementary and Bible Schools. It was fun to get to meet some of them and have an evening of fellowship.

One more thing......the English teachers at the elementary school have been researching for 2 years the best curriculum to use for teaching English. A curriculum was finally decided on for the beginning of this year, but the funds for it fell through, so they have been struggling with some not very good curriculum. I wanted to share with you that your generous donations to support our mission here have made it possible for us to help them get the curriculum they so desperately need. Thank you for your faithful and generous giving.....you are making an impact in this part of the world that will reach out to many other parts of the world.

Mary... Your wonderful heart for God just glows through your words in your blog... For Thanksgiving I never said what I was thankful for - but one of the things is you... your love for God, your frankness and "snap out of it" lectures, your wonderful sense of humor... and the fact I can say you're my friend...

Thank you for your faithful postings to this blog, it touches my heart every time I read it...
I love you friend!
