That's right! I went on my first official hike on Sunday.....to Martineske Hole - 2400 feet up! It was gruelling and wonderful all at the same time! I went with my Slovak teacher Dana and her cousin's cousin, Loubo and two of her friends Joseph and Marta. We had a great time! Those of you who were
here on that first trip will remember, I think, where we rode the bus up a winding hill for an hour and then got out and hiked up the rest of the way to pray over all the villages - we hiked up to where the bus stopped! What a beautiful hike it was!
Joseph knows "hello" and "how are you" in English and said them many times during our 6 hour hike! His wife Marta knew some English years ago so we practiced some 'to be' lessons - she helped me practice Slovak and I helped her in English - Dana got the day off! Loubo works in Austria and so he speaks German and Slovak and spoke in both languages to me....which was easier to understand than you might think!
Dana and I returned back to the dorm right at 5pm and in time to attend the Advent Koncert at the church - what glorious music! The acoustics are fantastic in church and made the voices lifted in praise to our King even more thrilling to hear!

Mary, you are such a good hiker. I love the pics. Lots of snow, huh? And the church, it looks packed out for the concert. That's neat.
Hi Pen,
Recognize the scarf, hat, glove combo? It was the perfect set to wear that day! Thanks again!
And yes, the church was quite packed for the concert! It was lovely!
