He Found Me!

St. Nickolas, I mean. He found me all the way in Martin, Slovakia! You see, December 6th is St. Mickolas (pronounced Mikolash) day and so on the eve of this day, all the children shine up their best shoes and put them outside their door and when they wake up the next morning, (and if they've been good of course) their shoes will be filled with fruit and sweets! Which is just what happened to mine! Actually to be truthful, I didn't put my shoes out....but the fruit and sweets were left at my door anyway. (I added the shoes for the picture). :o) What fun! I even left my room for a few hours later on and when I came back, there were more sweets arranged in the shape of a cross! (I know I forgot the pictures but you can just imagine).

Lindsay and I went in to Zilina by train and bus and went shopping for the day. When we returned they had all the Christmas lights on in the square - these aren't the best pictures, but they'll give you an idea.....I'll take more later.

The next week or so will be full of advent concerts. There is one at the Bible school this Friday and then there are two at the elementary school next week. I plan to make all of those!

Enjoy the pictures and I'll get some more on soon.....and then I'll tell you about the latest class activities we've enjoyed! Bye for now....

Mary - Thanks for the pictures. My first time in Martin was during St Nick day - it was quite an experience. Remind me to tell you about it sometime. I'll never speak in front of a crowd in quite the same way...

(Got you wondering, don't I?)

Thanks for the updates. Praying for you.

Love and hugs -
Shelly
